Air Fryers

The Best Non-Toxic Air Fryers of 2026

Seven air fryers with PFAS-free ceramic or glass cooking surfaces, ranked on how well they cook, how much they hold and what they're made of.

We may earn a commission when you buy through links on this page. Our editorial rankings are maintained separately from retailer relationships.

Most air fryers still use a PTFE-based nonstick coating on the basket. If you'd rather keep that out of your kitchen, the market has changed: ceramic-coated baskets and glass cooking vessels are now common, and several of them crisp as well as conventional models.

This guide covers seven of them. Five use a ceramic coating that the maker describes as PFAS-free. Two, the Ninja Crispi Pro and the Cuisinart ClearView, cook in glass instead. Each was ranked on cooking results, real capacity, ease of use, materials, build and value.

One point up front. For nearly every pick here, the PFAS-free status comes from the manufacturer. The Typhur Dome 2 is the only one with a published lab report, and Typhur commissioned it. We say which is which in each entry so you can decide how much that matters to you.

Typhur Sync Air Fryer AF13/AF14 (8 qt)

A big ceramic-basket fryer that crisps well and has a probe built in

Full product review →
8.0 /10
Typhur Sync 8 Qt Air Fryer with Built-in Wireless Probe
Lowest verified price $159.00 at Amazon

An 8-quart single-basket air fryer with a ceramic basket and grill plate that Typhur calls PFAS-free. It includes a five-sensor wireless probe and app control.

Why we like it

RTINGS gives the Sync 8.0 for air frying, 7.9 for frying performance and 8.3 for large-batch cooking. It reports very little food coming out mushy or overcooked, and says the fryer preheats and cooks quickly. Homes & Gardens names it the best non-toxic air fryer overall in its 2026 guide.

Capacity is real: Consumer Reports measured 6.7 quarts usable. The built-in probe stops cooking at your target temperature, which suits chicken, steak and fish. It's also fairly priced for what it offers.

What to know

Skip it if you want lab paperwork behind the PFAS-free claim. Typhur says the basket and grill plate are PFAS-free ceramic, but no published test report exists for the Sync.

Pros

  • Strong crisping scores from RTINGS
  • 6.7 qt measured usable capacity
  • Built-in wireless probe stops cooking at target temperature
  • Dishwasher-safe basket
  • Mid-priced for its size and features

Cons

  • PFAS-free status is the maker's claim, with no published report
  • Probe docking can be fiddly, owners report
  • Newer AF14 revision adds app fan-speed control, so check the model on the listing

Cosori CAF-DC601 (TurboBlaze 6 Qt)

The budget pick: proven crisping and a ceramic basket Cosori calls PFAS-free

Full product review →
8.0 /10
Cosori TurboBlaze 9-in-1 6-Qt Air Fryer CAF-DC601
Lowest verified price $99.99 at Amazon

The Cosori TurboBlaze is a 6-quart, 9-function basket air fryer with a 90 to 450°F range and a 5-speed DC fan. It targets households of three to five.

Why we like it

RTINGS scores the TurboBlaze 8.0 for air frying, and it costs a fraction of the premium models here. It reaches 450°F and has a dishwasher-safe basket, though Cosori recommends hand washing for longevity.

Cosori's product page and the Amazon listing both describe the coating as PFAS-free ceramic. For a shopper who wants to avoid PTFE without spending much, it's the easiest route.

What to know

Skip it if you cook often at high heat and need steady temperatures. RTINGS rates temperature stability as only okay, with a 42°F swing at 400°F and slow recovery after food goes in.

Pros

  • 6-quart capacity and 450°F maximum
  • Best budget pick at RTINGS
  • Highly Recommended by America's Test Kitchen
  • Wide temperature range from 90°F
  • Dishwasher-safe basket

Cons

  • Conflicting information on the coating and PFAS

#3 Best Large Capacity

Nuwave Brio Plus 8 Qt 37401

The most usable capacity here, with a ceramic basket, at a modest price

Full product review →
7.7 /10
Nuwave Brio Plus 8 Qt Air Fryer PFAS-Free 37401
Lowest verified price $139.99 at Amazon

An 8-quart basket fryer with a ceramic nonstick coating that Nuwave's manual describes as PFAS-free. Consumer Reports measured 7.1 quarts usable.

Why we like it

Consumer Reports recommends the Brio Plus among large air fryers and measured 7.1 quarts of usable space, the most of any pick here, in a unit that weighs about 12 pounds. That makes it the easiest way to cook for four or more without batches.

Nuwave's owner's manual says the ceramic coating leaves a cooking surface free from PFAS. Wattage is adjustable, and the temperature range runs from 50°F to 400°F in 5-degree steps.

What to know

Skip it if you want the hottest searing or dishwasher cleaning. It tops out at 400°F, Consumer Reports lists the basket as not dishwasher-safe, and the warranty is one year.

  • 7.1 qt measured usable capacity, the most here
  • Light for its size at about 12 lb
  • Adjustable wattage and 5°F temperature steps
  • Recommended by Consumer Reports
  • Budget-friendly for the capacity

#4 Published PFAS Test Report

Typhur Dome 2 (AF03; refreshed AF05)

The one fryer here with a published PFAS test report

Full product review →
7.5 /10
Typhur Dome 2 Air Fryer
Lowest verified price $339.99 at Amazon

A premium wide, flat-basket fryer with top and bottom heaters, a self-clean cycle and a ceramic coating Typhur calls PFAS-free.

Why we like it

Typhur publishes a PFAS report for the Dome 2 AF03, issued by TÜV Rheinland (Shenzhen) on 3 January 2025. It's the only fryer in this guide with that kind of paperwork, though Typhur commissioned the report.

Consumer Reports recommends it among large air fryers and gives it top scores for cleaning. The wide basket lets you cook in a single layer, and the dual heaters help browning.

What to know

Skip it if counter space or budget is tight. It is about 20 inches deep, weighs around 20 pounds and is the priciest air fryer in Consumer Reports' ratings. Measured capacity is 5 quarts.

Pros

  • Published PFAS test report from TÜV Rheinland
  • Top Consumer Reports score for cleaning
  • Top and bottom heaters, wide single-layer basket
  • Self-clean cycle
  • Dishwasher-safe basket

Cons

  • Premium price
  • About 20 in deep and 20 lb
  • Controls are not the most intuitive, per Consumer Reports

#5 Best Glass Air Fryer

Ninja Crispi Pro AS101 (AS101DG Ash Grey; also AS101CY, AS101LG)

Cook, store and reheat in uncoated glass without giving up crisping

Full product review →
7.4 /10
Ninja Crispi Pro 6-in-1 Glass Air Fryer AS101
Lowest verified price $269.99 at Amazon

A countertop air fryer with swappable 6-quart and 2.5-quart borosilicate glass containers. The crisper plates are nano-ceramic-coated aluminum.

Why we like it

The Crispi Pro is the best way here to cook in uncoated glass. Both containers are dishwasher-, microwave- and freezer-safe, so food can go from cooking to the fridge to reheating in one dish. RTINGS rates it the best small air fryer it has tested.

Ninja's FAQ says all food-contact surfaces are designed without PFAS and PTFE. That is a manufacturer claim, and only the glass vessel is uncoated; the crisper plates carry a nano-ceramic coating.

What to know

Skip it if you're watching the budget or counter weight. It costs around $270, weighs 18 pounds and holds 5.4 quarts by Consumer Reports' measure. The glass also gets very hot.

Pros

  • Cooks in uncoated borosilicate glass
  • Containers are dishwasher-, microwave- and freezer-safe
  • RTINGS rates it the best small air fryer it tested
  • Two container sizes
  • Viewing window

Cons

  • Premium price
  • 18 lb

Full product review →
7.3 /10
COSORI Iconic Stainless Steel 6.5 Qt Smart Air Fryer CAF-SE601S
Lowest verified price $249.00 at Amazon

Cosori's premium smart fryer has a stainless steel housing and a ceramic basket the maker says is free of BPA, PFAS and PTFE.

Why we like it

Tom's Guide calls the Iconic its best PFAS-free air fryer. The stainless exterior cuts down on plastic, and Cosori backs it with a five-year warranty, the longest here.

It has app control and a dishwasher-safe basket, and reviewers score its cooking well.

What to know

Skip it if you need space. Consumer Reports measured 4.6 quarts usable against 6.5 claimed. It's also premium-priced for that capacity.

Pros

  • Stainless steel housing
  • Five-year warranty
  • Cosori says cooking surfaces are free of BPA, PFAS and PTFE
  • App control

Full product review →
7.2 /10
Cuisinart ClearView 4-Qt Glass Basket Air Fryer AFC-4
Lowest verified price $139.95 at Amazon

A 4-quart fryer with a glass basket, a ceramic crisper plate Cuisinart calls PFAS-free and an interior window.

Why we like it

Tom's Guide named the ClearView best air fryer in its 2026 Awards. You can watch food cook through the glass, the price is modest, and Consumer Reports lists a three-year warranty.

Cuisinart's manual lists a PFAS-free ceramic nonstick crisper plate with the glass basket.

What to know

Skip it if you cook for more than three people. Consumer Reports measured 3.2 quarts, and Tom's Guide notes a shallow bowl and limited functions. Check the manual for dishwasher care; sources differ.

Our process

How we review air fryers

PickMetric's picks come from research across independent tests, manufacturer specs and owner feedback. We drew on RTINGS, Consumer Reports, America's Test Kitchen, Tom's Guide, Homes & Gardens, Reviewed and manufacturer documentation, and compared 13 air fryers. We did not run our own hands-on tests.

Scores used six weighted criteria: cooking performance (30%), value (20%), capacity and footprint (15%), ease of use (15%), cleaning and materials (10%) and build and safety (10%). Where Consumer Reports measured usable capacity, we used that figure rather than the claimed one. Every pick then went through a structured review in which it was challenged before publication.

How We Picked

We started with 13 air fryers and gathered evidence from independent tests (RTINGS, Consumer Reports, America's Test Kitchen), reviews from Tom's Guide, Homes & Gardens and Reviewed, and manufacturer specs and documentation. We did not cook with these machines ourselves. Statements like "testers found" refer to those published sources.

Each product was scored on cooking performance, usable capacity, ease of use, materials, build and value. Where possible we used measured capacity from Consumer Reports instead of the number on the box. Products had to have a PFAS-free or glass cooking surface to qualify.

Every pick was then challenged in a structured review before publication. That process changed the lineup. Scores for several models were cut where claims rested on manufacturer statements alone, and the Cosori TurboBlaze's cooking and value scores were lowered after the review pointed to RTINGS' own 8.0 rating and its only-okay temperature stability. The Typhur Dome 2 is credited for its published PFAS report, but we note that Typhur commissioned it.

What to Look For

Cooking surface

There are three main types: PTFE nonstick (what this guide avoids), ceramic-coated metal, and glass. Ceramic is the most common PFAS-free option. Glass puts no coating on the main vessel, though the models here still use a ceramic-coated crisper plate.

Real capacity

Claimed quarts often overstate usable space. Consumer Reports measured 7.1 qt for the Nuwave 8-qt, 6.7 qt for the Typhur Sync, 4.6 qt for the Cosori Iconic's claimed 6.5 and 3.2 qt for the 4-qt Cuisinart. Pick by measured space.

Temperature control

Air fryers that swing in temperature or recover slowly after loading brown unevenly. RTINGS flags this for the TurboBlaze.

Cleaning and care

Ceramic coatings last longer if you avoid metal utensils and abrasive scrubbers. Some baskets are dishwasher-safe and some are not, even when similar. Check the manual for your model.

Footprint and weight

The Dome 2 is about 20 inches deep and the Crispi Pro weighs 18 pounds. Measure your counter and consider whether you'll lift it often.

Health, Materials & Safety

PFAS is a broad family of chemicals, and PTFE is the nonstick coating best known among them. Many shoppers prefer cooking surfaces that avoid them, and the picks here are chosen for that reason. This guide makes no medical claims; it describes what makers say and what has been published.

What is documented

The Typhur Dome 2 is the only pick with a published PFAS test report, from TÜV Rheinland (Shenzhen), dated 3 January 2025 and commissioned by Typhur. For every other pick, the PFAS-free statement comes from the manufacturer's product page, manual or FAQ.

Glass and ceramic

The Ninja Crispi Pro cooks in borosilicate glass, and the Cuisinart ClearView uses a glass basket. Both also use ceramic-coated crisper plates. Glass is heavy, can break and gets very hot, so handle it with care.

Materials and longevity

The Cosori Iconic's stainless steel housing replaces much of the plastic body and comes with a five-year warranty. Reviewed noted a noticeable new-appliance smell on first use of the Iconic, so run it empty once before cooking.

Energy use

Consumer Reports estimates running the Typhur Sync for one hour a week at 350°F costs about $6.82 a year, and the Cosori Iconic about $6.88.

Other Non-Toxic Air Fryers We Considered

Ninja Crispi FN101: RTINGS rated it 6.5 with disappointing frying. It has no manual temperature control and measured only 3.7 quarts.

Ninja Crispi DualZone DD101: Consumer Reports measured only 3.6 quarts usable against 8 claimed. It weighs about 30 pounds and is expensive.

Fritaire glass air fryer: RTINGS found its frying disappointing. It is limited to 1300W and 400°F and is sold by a third party.

Our Place Wonder Oven Pro: oven-style air frying is weaker, it is premium-priced from a third-party seller and it has a large footprint.

Cuisinart CompactMAX Air 210: Cuisinart makes no explicit PFAS-free claim for this model.

Dash Tasti-Crisp Ceramic: the Amazon title does not confirm the ceramic version, Dash makes no PFAS claim and it holds only 2.3 quarts.

FAQ

Are ceramic air fryer baskets really PFAS-free?

Makers of the ceramic models here say so, and the Typhur Dome 2 has a published lab report commissioned by Typhur. For the others, the claim is the manufacturer's. Glass cooking vessels avoid the question for the main container.

Is glass better than ceramic?

Glass leaves no coating on the main vessel, and it cleans easily. It is also heavier, breakable and very hot to the touch. Ceramic is lighter and cheaper.

How do I make a ceramic basket last?

Use silicone or wood utensils, skip abrasive pads and follow the manual on dishwasher use. Cosori recommends hand washing its baskets.

Which pick holds the most food?

The Nuwave Brio Plus, at 7.1 quarts measured by Consumer Reports. The Typhur Sync is close at 6.7 quarts.

What is the best budget non-toxic air fryer?

The Cosori TurboBlaze is the lowest-priced pick with strong crisping scores. The Cuisinart ClearView is a good low-cost glass option for small households.

Does the Cuisinart ClearView go in the dishwasher?

Sources differ. Some retailer listings say yes and others say wipe clean. Check the manual that comes with your unit.

Bottom line

If you want one answer, the Typhur Sync is the best mix of crisping, capacity and a PFAS-free ceramic basket at a mid price. The Cosori TurboBlaze does most of that for far less, and the Nuwave Brio Plus holds the most food. If documentation matters most, the Typhur Dome 2 has a published PFAS report. If you want to cook in glass, choose the Ninja Crispi Pro or the Cuisinart ClearView. Whichever you buy, read the care instructions and avoid metal utensils and abrasive scrubbers on any coated surface.
