What to know about Lumie Vitamin L

A slim 4000K LED tablet lamp from British light-therapy specialist Lumie. It delivers 10,000 lux at 20 cm (about 8 in), 5,000 at 30 cm and 2,500 at 50 cm, and works in portrait or landscape. Certified as a Class IIa medical device in the UK and EU; Engadget's long-term-use recommendation.
Editorial notes

Why it stands out

Why we like it

Lumie states exactly what you get: 10,000 lux at 20 cm (about 8 in), 5,000 at 30 cm and 2,500 at 50 cm. That lets you plan your sitting distance, or trade distance for dose. It is certified as a Class IIa medical device under UK MDR 2002 and EU MDR 2017/745, and the LEDs are UV-free.

It is slim and light at about 1.8 lb, comes with a detachable stand and a 3-year warranty, and Engadget recommends it after long-term use.

What to know

Skip it if you want dimming or a timer. It has a single power button, and it balances poorly in landscape orientation. One buyer reported headaches at close range.
