What to know about Weddell Duo WD-100

A two-cartridge inline filter (sediment prefilter plus activated carbon block) that installs between the shower arm and your existing showerhead. It is NSF/ANSI 177 certified and was the only filter in WaterFilterGuru's lab testing to remove 100% of chlorine and every detected DBP. It suits buyers who want verified chlorine removal at the lowest running cost and don't mind a bulky inline unit.

Why we like it

The Weddell Duo has the best evidence of any filter here. NSF's database lists the WD-100 as certified to NSF/ANSI 177 for free chlorine at 10,000 gallons and 2.0 gpm, with a lead-free marker. In WaterFilterGuru's lab test it was the only filter to remove 100% of chlorine and every disinfection byproduct it detected.

It is also the cheapest to run. Two cartridges are replaced together about every 5 to 6 months, which WaterFilterGuru estimates at roughly $72 a year. Because it is inline, it keeps your current showerhead and can feed a handheld or diverter setup.

What to know

Skip it if you want maximum water pressure or a compact look. It is bulky, and flow dropped to 1.42 gpm in testing.
