The AV855 is the only bar in our pool that pairs a wide voice-boost range with one-cable HDMI-ARC control. ZVOX's spec page lists 20 levels, 10 of AccuVoice and 10 of SuperVoice, so you can step up gradually instead of choosing on or off. Output Leveling tames loud commercials, which is a common complaint.

TechRadar called it a soundbar that makes dialog clear and found its boost stronger than other dialog modes. Home Technology Review reported voices moving forward in the mix without the volume rising. Once connected over HDMI, the TV remote handles power and volume, and the included remote has large, clearly labeled buttons.

What to know

Skip it if music matters as much as speech, or if you want Bluetooth or Dolby Atmos. It is also bigger than needed for a small TV.
