A strong pick for SUV, truck and off-road drivers who want speed and unlimited runtime. The clamp-on setup is less convenient than a cordless unit, but the performance and price are good.

What to know about VIAIR EVC88P

A digital version of the 88P with the same 120 psi / 1.97 CFM motor, plus a preset pressure with automatic shut-off, IP53 rating and 16 ft hose. Road & Track's Best All-Rounder (Sept 2026): a sedan tire to 38 psi in about 2.5 minutes and an SUV tire in under 5. It fixes the old 88P's gauge problem; it still uses battery clamps.
Editorial notes

Why it stands out

Why we like it

Road & Track's Best All-Rounder took a sedan tire to 38 psi in about 2.5 minutes and an SUV tire in just under 5. A separate review reported a 33-inch tire going from 15 to 35 psi in 4:25, with readings within 0.5 psi of a reference gauge.

Because it draws from the car battery, there is nothing to charge. The long hose reaches all four tires, and the IP53 rating, brass chuck and carry bag suit trunk storage.

What to know

Skip it if you do not want to open the hood and clamp onto the battery, or want a quiet unit.
