What to know about MAGNA-TILES microMAGS Advent Calendar 34-Piece (256034AC)

MAGNA-TILES' first advent calendar has 34 holiday microMAGS: 10 decorated squares, 3 triangles, Santa and Conductor figures with mix-and-match parts, and a microChassis that rides a train track built into the packaging. It is for ages 3+ at $39.99 and is the most widely recommended toy calendar this season, named best overall by Good Housekeeping and Mommy Poppins.

Editorial notes

Why it stands out

Why we like it

This is the most widely recommended toy calendar of the season. Good Housekeeping and Mommy Poppins name it best overall, and TODAY, NBC Select, Hello! and Parenting Patch also recommend it. The packaging interior doubles as a train track for the microChassis, and the mix-and-match figures add variety.

The pieces work with other microMAGS sets, so it grows into a collection.

What to know

Skip it if you want the most toys for the money or have a child who still mouths objects. It has the highest cost per piece of the building calendars, and the set contains magnets, which carry a swallowing warning. The microMAGS are smaller than standard MAGNA-TILES and are not compatible with them.
