The Best Non-Toxic Toaster Ovens (No PTFE) of 2026
Five toaster ovens with enamel or stainless cavities and manufacturer statements that they are made without PFAS, ranked for buyers who want to avoid PTFE.
We may earn a commission when you buy through links on this page. Our editorial rankings are maintained separately from retailer relationships.
Most toaster ovens are sold without saying what the interior is coated with. If you want to avoid PTFE (the nonstick material often sold as Teflon) and other PFAS, that silence is a problem. A cavity that looks like plain metal may carry a nonstick layer, and retailer listings for the same model sometimes disagree.
This guide keeps only ovens where the manufacturer says in writing that the interior is free of PFAS. Two use porcelain enamel, two use bare stainless steel, and one uses a ceramic nonstick coating that we rank last because that coating wears.
Every oven here also air fries, since that is where most buyers are heading. Prices move, so we describe cost in relative terms and point out where the seller matters.

Panasonic NB-G211P
A roomy enamel-lined air fryer oven that Panasonic calls PFAS-free
Full product review →
A 1800W family-size toaster oven with infrared and convection heating, air fry and 11 cooking functions. The interior is porcelain enamel.
Why we like it
Panasonic describes the interior as 'all-enamel, PFAS-free' in its launch announcement, and the Amazon listing repeats it. Its California chemical disclosure for this model lists only metals and enamel oxides, which supports that statement. Porcelain enamel is fused glass rather than a nonstick film, so there is no coating to wear through.
It is also a capable all-rounder on paper: 28 L (about 1 cu ft), 1800W, a top temperature of 445°F and a mesh air-fry basket. The 11 functions cover most daily cooking.
What to know
Skip it if you want proven test results or the lowest price. Independent testing is thin, and the current Amazon offer is from a third-party seller rather than Amazon.
Pros
- Explicit manufacturer statement of a PFAS-free enamel interior
- 28 L cavity suits family-size meals
- Infrared plus convection heating, with air fry
- 11 cooking functions
- Enamel tray and mesh basket, no ceramic coating
Cons
- Little independent test coverage
- Mid-to-premium price; Best Buy lists it higher than the Amazon third-party offer
- Amazon listings disagree on the temperature range
- Panasonic's site shows a recall banner, but the recall covers a different model (NB-G200SVA)

A 26.4-qt, 1750W French-door air fryer toaster oven with a porcelain enamel interior and enamel baking tray. It fits a 12-inch pizza or a 5-lb chicken.
Why we like it
Midea's product page calls the enamel coating 'PFAS-free' and lists an enamel baking tray, rack, air-fry basket and crumb tray. The cavity is among the largest in this guide, and the price is the lowest of the full-size options.
French doors, 10 functions and six-slice toasting make it easy to live with in a busy kitchen.
What to know
Skip it if you want every accessory documented or an independently tested oven. The PFAS-free statement covers the enamel, and Midea does not state the rack, basket and crumb tray materials.
Pros
- Large 26.4 qt cavity
- PFAS-free enamel interior per Midea
- Enamel baking tray included
- Lower price than other full-size options here
- French-door design
Cons
- No major independent test; its Best Value standing is unverified by independent testing
- Rack, basket and crumb tray materials not stated
- Newer model with limited long-term owner data
- Listings conflict on temperature range

Our Place Wonder Oven Pro (28 L, 8-in-1)
Stainless cavity, steam infusion and three racks, at a premium
Full product review →
A 28 L, 1700W digital air fryer oven with 8 modes and steam infusion. The cavity is stainless steel.
Why we like it
Our Place states that the Pro's interior surfaces and accessories are made without PFAS. The cavity is bare stainless, and the basket, rack and crumb tray are steel. Only the aluminum bake pan carries a ceramic coating.
Three rack positions, digital controls and steam make it the most versatile oven in the group.
What to know
Skip it if you are price-sensitive. It is the most expensive of the clear-cut picks, and America's Test Kitchen rated it Recommended with Reservations.
Pros
- Bare stainless steel cavity
- Steel basket, rack and crumb tray
- Steam infusion and 8 modes
- Three rack positions, 28 L
- Digital controls
Cons
- Premium price
- ATK: Recommended with Reservations

Our Place Wonder Oven (12 L / 13 qt, 6-in-1)
A small PFAS-free air fryer oven for tight counters
Full product review →
A 12 L, 1400W analog-dial air fryer toaster oven with a stainless cavity. Our Place says it is made without PFAS, including PTFE.
Why we like it
This is the only oven in the lineup whose maker names PTFE specifically: 'made without PFAS (including PTFE)'. The cavity is stainless, the basket and rack are chromed steel, and the crumb tray is stainless. Only the bake pan has a ceramic coating.
It suits one or two people and costs well under the larger models.
What to know
Skip it if you cook for more than two or want fast, precise air frying. Tom's Guide found the dials imprecise and air frying slow.
Pros
- Manufacturer states no PFAS, including PTFE
- Stainless cavity
- Compact footprint
- Lower price than the larger models
Cons
- Tom's Guide found dials imprecise and air frying slow
- ATK: Recommended with Reservations
- Accessories are hand-wash only
- Ceramic bake pan coating wears over time

GreenPan Elite Convection Air Fryer Toaster Oven CC007472-001 (Premiere Stainless)
Ceramic nonstick throughout, so it ranks last in this guide
Full product review →
A 28 L, 1800W convection air fryer oven with 13 presets and a ceramic nonstick interior and accessories.
Why we like it
GreenPan says its ceramic nonstick is 'made without intentionally added PFAS', and the Amazon listing extends this to the walls, pan, basket and crumb tray. It is easy to wipe clean and has a large cavity with many presets.
It is PTFE-free by manufacturer claim, with no independent lab or performance test behind it.
What to know
Skip it if you want an uncoated or enamel surface. Every surface is sol-gel ceramic that loses its release properties over time, and the price is high.
Pros
- Manufacturer states no intentionally added PFAS
- Easy to clean
- 28 L cavity
- 13 presets
Cons
- Every surface is a coating that wears
- No independent performance test
- Expensive, with a high list price
- Wording is 'no intentionally added PFAS', not a flat PFAS-free claim

How we review toaster ovens
We compared 12 toaster ovens using independent tests from America's Test Kitchen, Tom's Guide, TechGearLab, RTINGS and Reviewed, manufacturer specs and disclosures, owner feedback, and advocacy reporting such as Mamavation. Each product was scored on cooking performance (25 percent), PTFE/PFAS-free evidence (20 percent), health and materials (15 percent), value (15 percent), ease of use and cleaning (10 percent), capacity and versatility (10 percent), and reliability and support (5 percent).
PFAS-free evidence is weighted heavily because it is the point of this guide. An explicit manufacturer statement scored highest. Retailer-only copy, conflicting descriptions and silence scored low or got a product excluded. Cooking scores stay modest across the lineup because independent testing of the PFAS-free models is thin.
How We Picked
We started with 12 toaster ovens and gathered evidence from independent tests (America's Test Kitchen, Tom's Guide, TechGearLab, RTINGS, Reviewed), manufacturer pages and chemical disclosures, retailer listings, owner feedback and Mamavation's non-toxic guidebook. Scores follow the weighted criteria in the methodology, with PFAS-free evidence and materials counting for more than usual.
Every pick was then challenged in a structured review before publication, and that review changed the lineup. Panasonic's NB-G110P was dropped because the claim that it is uncoated rested on sources that could not be verified, while a retailer page described a nonstick interior. The Hamilton Beach 31344D was cut because its only PFAS evidence was a spec-table entry with no manufacturer statement.
The review also reordered the winners. Panasonic's NB-G211P moved to first on the strength of its explicit PFAS-free interior statement, and the GreenPan was moved to last because its ceramic coating wears.
What to Look For
An explicit statement, not an absence
Look for a manufacturer saying the interior and accessories are made without PFAS or PTFE. Retailer copy and silence are not the same thing, and the same model can be described as nonstick on one site and uncoated on another.
Interior material
Porcelain enamel and bare stainless steel have no nonstick film to wear off. Ceramic sol-gel coatings are PFAS-free in the brands we list, but they lose their slickness over time, especially with abrasive cleaning or high heat.
Accessories
The bake pan, basket, rack and crumb tray also touch food. Check what each is made from. Several ovens here use a ceramic-coated pan even where the cavity is bare steel.
Size and cooking style
A 12 L oven suits one or two people. For a 12-inch pizza or a whole chicken, look at 25 L and up. Convection and air fry matter more than toast-slice counts for most households.
Seller and price
Some models are sold by third-party sellers on Amazon. Compare against the manufacturer and major retailers before buying.
Health, Materials & Safety
PTFE is one of the PFAS, a family of fluorine-based chemicals used in nonstick coatings. Buyers who want to avoid them can choose surfaces that never had a coating: porcelain enamel (Panasonic, Midea) or bare stainless steel (both Our Place ovens).
The ceramic nonstick used by GreenPan, and on the bake pans of the Our Place ovens, is described by the makers as made without PFAS. These are thin coatings that wear with use, so hand-wash them and avoid metal utensils.
Panasonic's chemical disclosure for the NB-G211P lists metals and enamel oxides and no PFAS. It supports Panasonic's own PFAS-free statement but is not a lab test. Our Place's ovens are not part of any recall we found. A recall banner on Panasonic's site relates to the NB-G200SVA, not the NB-G211P.
New ovens of any type can give off some odor on first use, so run one empty cycle in a ventilated kitchen.
Other Non-Toxic Toaster Ovens (No PTFE) We Considered
Panasonic NB-G110P: a well-reviewed compact oven, but we could not confirm an uncoated interior from a primary source, and one retailer describes it as nonstick.
Hamilton Beach 31344D: a budget oven with no manufacturer statement about its interior or bake pan.
Cuisinart TOA-70: PFAS-free claims come from retailer copy only, descriptions conflict, and the griddle coating is unspecified.
Ninja SP101 and SP151: the evidence on the sheet pan or basket coatings is conflicting or missing.
Balmuda The Toaster: mostly a toast specialist, with no coating disclosure and a premium price.
Black+Decker TO3250XSBD: no manufacturer disclosure, a reportedly galvanized interior, and TechGearLab found it runs hot and uneven.
FAQ
Is PTFE the same as PFAS?
PTFE is one type of PFAS. An oven made without PFAS is therefore made without PTFE, though some makers state only one or the other.
Is a ceramic nonstick oven non-toxic?
Ceramic coatings are made without PTFE, and GreenPan says its coating is made without intentionally added PFAS. They are still coatings that wear, which is why we favor enamel and stainless.
Is enamel better than stainless steel?
Neither has a nonstick film. Enamel is smooth and easy to wipe, while stainless is bare metal and may need more scrubbing. Choose on size, features and price.
Do these ovens cook as well as mainstream models?
Independent testing of these specific ovens is limited. America's Test Kitchen and Tom's Guide had reservations about the Our Place ovens, and the Panasonic and Midea have little major-outlet coverage.
How should I clean an uncoated oven?
Wipe it while it is warm, not hot, and use a non-abrasive cleaner or baking soda paste. Empty the crumb tray often. Hand-wash coated pans.
Bottom line
For most households, the Panasonic NB-G211P is the best fit: a roomy enamel interior with a clear PFAS-free statement from the maker. The Midea Flexify Pro is the cheaper way to get a large enamel oven if you can accept less track record. Choose the Our Place ovens if you prefer bare stainless steel, and treat the GreenPan as a last resort for people who specifically want a coated, easy-wipe cavity.
