Our verdict
The Solaris 718 is the most convenient heater here for a big living room. Its controls, oscillation and rating make up for the thin warranty.

Pros

  • 120° oscillation spreads heat widely
  • Remote, 12-hour timer and child lock
  • Precise 1°F digital thermostat
  • Cool-touch housing with a heat-sensing plug
  • Highest coverage rating of the picks at 300 sq ft

Cons

  • Only a 1-year warranty
  • The 25 dB figure is Dreo's Eco-mode claim; high mode sounds like white noise
  • Owners say the manual leaves some features unclear
  • Fan-forced, so it circulates room dust

Editorial notes

Why it stands out

Why we like it

Bob Vila's hands-on review found it raised a 216 sq ft room from 60°F to 70°F in under 30 minutes. CNN Underscored also named it its overall winner and said it suits larger rooms. Wide oscillation spreads heat across a living room instead of aiming it at one spot.

The thermostat works in 1°F steps from 41 to 95°F, and the remote, timer and child lock make it easy to run from the couch or bed. It has cool-touch housing and a plug that cuts power if it heats abnormally.

What to know

Skip it if you need lab-verified quiet operation or a long warranty: no lab has measured its noise and the warranty is one year.
