What to know about National Tree Company 4.5 ft Pre-Lit Dunhill Fir (DUH-45RLO)

A small pre-lit version of the Dunhill Fir and Bob Vila's Best Small pick. It took about 20 minutes to assemble and fluff, had a full shape for its size, and its sturdy top branch held a topper. Good for apartments and tabletops-plus spaces.
Editorial notes

Why it stands out

Why we like it

This is a separate small-space pick, not a full-size tree. Bob Vila's testers found it took about 20 minutes to assemble and fluff, had a full shape for its size, and had a sturdy top branch that held a topper.

Amazon.com sells it at a budget price, and it is the easiest tree here to set up and store.

What to know

Skip it if you want a full-size tree. It is only 4.5 ft, and the lights are subtle in a large room.
Performance

Score breakdown

Realism & Fullness

How natural the tree looks once fluffed: needle material (PVC vs PE), tip count relative to height, shape and gaps, per hands-on testers.

6.0
Full for its size (Bob Vila), but only 4.5 ft.
Branch Strength & Ornament Support

Whether branches hold heavy ornaments without sagging and whether the stand is stable (testers' bump and heavy-ornament tests).

6.5
The top branch held a topper; the tips suit small to medium ornaments.
Setup, Fluffing & Storage

Hinged branches, number of sections, fluffing time, ease of taking down and repacking, shedding.

8.0
About 20 minutes to set up (Bob Vila).
Lighting Quality

For pre-lit trees: light count per foot, LED vs incandescent, modes and foot pedal, how evenly the lights are spread and how reliable they are. Unlit trees are scored on how easy they are to light yourself.

5.5
Subtle lights, and light count and color vary by variant.
Durability & Warranty

Build quality, owner reports of failures (dead light sections, broken branches), and warranty length, since a tree must last about 5 years to beat a real tree environmentally.

5.5
Warranty not confirmed for this SKU.
Health & Materials

Needle material (PVC vs PE), Prop 65/lead disclosures, off-gassing odor, flocking dust, flame-retardant claims, UL-listed lighting and recall history.

6.0
PVC tips.
Value

Real street price against fullness, lights and longevity, staying under $200 for the exact model.

6.5
About $107 for 4.5 ft is fair but not cheap per foot.
